Had our personal taxes prepared by this firm, BGC. We were new to area and they had good reviews. We had our taxes prepared by a CPA last year in another state. This year was same type and amount paperwork. When we asked our representative at first and only meeting about cost, we were toldit was based on amount of papers they had to go over. No mention if any minimum base cost. (Should have been a warning bell #1). Next eere informed taxes were ready to pick up at office. When we asked about cost, the front desk said they had no idea, we would get bill in a few weeks. (Warning bell #2). Our bill was double the cost of last year CPA, same amount of papers and situation. BGC bill was $600! We reached out to preparers for explanation via phone call. She understood our concerns and went to her associate who stated their base cost was $600.They did not reveal this when we asked in the beginning (see above).
