I am sharing this review in hopes that I can spare others the problems I’ve had. Allie is a delightful person, but her skills and professionalism don’t seem to match up with her great personality. I liked her so much that I continued working with her for 2+ years in spite of difficulties. From the beginning, getting responses and questions answered was a struggle, usually requiring multiple follow-ups via phone and email over the course of weeks, not days. I’m persistent, people are busy, and I’m willing to accept this style of communication. However, this year, as I tried to schedule my appointment for tax preparation, I experienced a string of appointments canceled at the last minute. Right before the tax deadline, she asked that I submit all relevant documents via an online portal and said she’d filed electronically without meeting. I had quite a few questions, which I typed up and sent along with my documents. She didn’t answer them via email, so after the tax-deadline dust settled

Allie quickly helped me file for an extension in a pinch when I found out I would be traveling and unable to file my 2021 return in time. Not only was she quick with replying and helping me file the extension she also got my 2021 return done lightning fast once I returned home. The office is conveniently located and cute. I'm also not a big "talker" with new people which I usually catch flack for in situations like this but Allie never once tried to force small talk or make jokes about me being "quiet". I felt very comfortable the whole time. There were some difficulties scheduling a time to meet due to my work schedule and the busy tax season but Allie and Rosie were both very responsive by email to help facilitate finding a time that worked for everyone. Very happy with my experience here.

EDIT: Wait, what exactly did I lie about or misrepresent? The appointment was to meet with YOU to talk about becoming my accountant. How is expecting you to be there aggressive, rigid or crass? I was none of those things. I made another appointment because I was still trying to reconcile the situation and make excuses for you. I guess we both dodged a bullet. I am looking for an accounting firm for my small business that is locally owned and has an office right in the neighborhood. For the last 8 years I’ve had an accountant who I have never met face to face and that’s not working for me. After reading the reviews I was a bit apprehensive about making an appointment with Allie Gerber but she fits the above criteria and just LOOK at the bio on her website: We started out as a small business right here in Philadelphia, and that’s where we’ve been ever since.
